Bay Area

For a very long time, Osaka has prospered because of its port. And again in the 21st century, the main stage for Osaka sightseeing is the bay area. Centered on Tenpozan, this area has plenty of attractions: an aquarium, shopping malls, a ferris wheel, viewing platforms and a theme park. There are also sports facilities and campsites, so you can enjoy exercising in the outdoors. We recommend this area for groups of friends and families.

Entertainment on the water

You can find Tempozan Harbor Village at the tip of Osaka Port. Here you can see across all of Osaka Bay from one of the largest ferris wheels in the world, visit colorful and multi-cultural shops and restaurants at Tempozan Marketplace and see about 30,000 animals and plants spanning 580 different species at the world-class Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. There is also a shuttle boat here that will take you to Universal Studios Japan®.

Trade and commerce in the Osaka Bay area

On Sakishima, between Tenpozan and the sea, is the ATC (Asia and Pacific Trade Center) where you can enjoy food from around the world and outlet mall shopping. Behind that is a bay area landmark, the Osaka Prefecture Government Sakishima Office Observatory (Cosmo Tower), which is the largest observatory in western Japan. INTEX (International Exhibition Center) Osaka, a world-class exhibition center that hosts international business shows, has become a symbol of modern Osaka's trade and commerce.

An entire island dedicated to sports

Maishima, a man-made island in Osaka Bay, abounds with sports facilities, including a baseball stadium where national tournaments are held. There are also many charming outdoor facilities where you can go auto-camping, hold a barbecue, or stay in a log house.
