Tug-of-war Shinto ritual

Originating from a legend of Susanoonomikoto (the deity of this shrine) who vanquished the terrible Yamatanoorochi snake, this is one of the annual events which represent Osaka. A tug-of-war using an immense rope which represents the Orochi (big snake). The rope is then carried in the parade through the town.
