Sakurai Shrine

Sakurai shirine is the prestigious old shrine which you can see description of institutes "Engishiki" in early Heian period. The vicinity of current Senboku New Town was the biggest locality of sue ware in Japan. The origin is Baekje alien・Saskurai Sukune who has told the skill and enshrined ancestor. In suiko 5(597), there enshrines Shrine of the God of War and it became to be called Niwadani Shrine of the God of War, and went to extremes of prosperity. But, there had fire caused by war by Oda Nobunaga in 1557. The entire shrine was lost with the exception of the hall of worship and the main hall. Hall of worship has wari-haiden type that with a through part of floor mold which is "bridle path" is in a middle. It represents well the features of the architecture of the Kamakura period initial(national treasure). First Sunday of every October of the autumn festival, shinto ritual dance is dedicated which is called Niwadani's small dance. This is also designated of national intangible cultural asset.
