Ushitakisan Daiitokuji Temple

Tendai sect's ancient temple that was built by ennogyouja at mountains of Ushitakiyama close to the border of the Wakayama Prefecture. Another name is Ushitaki temple. There was one of the Kuzushiro shugendō's sacred place from long time ago. When you walk promenade, 3 waterfalls show up. In one of "three of waterfall"was Mt.Hiei's learned priest pursuing his studies•Eryo hat a training, and Yamantaka show up with riding cow from this waterfall. Eryo put the statue of Yamantaka as principal image, that is origin of temple name. Later, Koubou Daishi had a training in this place, and built two-storied pagoda. The two-storied pagoda which is bright with vermilion color in the precincts is national important cultural properties. In autumn, circuit style garden with Muromachi pattern, maple that is front of main temple gate is designated as natural monument in Kishiwada city, harmony of tinted autumnal leaves, and building of temple are beautiful, and designated as "prefecture's scenic spot". In every November, "Ushitakiyama tinted autumnal leaves festival"is opened, they do photo session, and selling local sake, and vegetables tempura.
