Sakuya Konohana Kan, the Great Conservatory
|OPEN HOURS||10:00-:17:00 (last admission 16:30)|
Sakuya Konohana Kan is one of the biggest nature conservatories in Japan. Built as the main pavilion for Expo '90, it's made out of 5,000 glass panels that make the building itself look like a flower (a water lily). Inside are 15,000 plants of 2,600 different species, including such rare and precious varieties as the Blue Himalayan Poppy and the Victoria Lily of the southern hemisphere. This conservatory is a must-see for all flower and plant lovers, who can take in-depth tours around the entire facility in the company of expert guides―or participate in the special events and exhibits that go on throughout the year.
