Utsubo Tennis Center, located in the western zone of the park, is known as the venue of Osaka Mayor's Cup World Junior Tennis Championships, one of the world's top junior tennis tournaments, along with the British, French, US and Australian Open junior tennis championships. This championship competition has been held every October since 1996, and exciting games have been played by many junior players aged 13 to 18 from around the world. The center has 16 courts in total, including the center court and sub-center court, of which eight courts are equipped with night lighting facilities. Those tennis courts are available for use by anyone who makes an advance reservation. Cheers of people enjoying tennis fill the center on Saturdays and Sundays.
