Rising to its new role, in in April 2000 the city opened the Osaka International Convention Center (OICC), an impressive new facility designed for large-scale international conferences, events and ceremonies. Styled as Osaka’s ”Grand Gateway” to the world, it is destined to become a powerful example of the area’s growing prestige.
