About 90 shops of antique arts and galleries are gathered together in this alley stretching for 1km from west to east of Nishitenma. Formerly, it was used as an approach to the Tenmangu Shrine. This area was known as a town of academics and culture for intellectuals who gathered together to live here. Inns, restaurants and theaters were here in the Taisho era. After the war, antique shops started to open. An antique festival is held in spring and autumn every year and the Tenjin Matsuri in the summer attracts people from all over.
