Last year, Hankyu Umeda department store celebrated its grand opening in the Kita Area under the concept of a “theatre-type department store”, attracting much attention with the creation of the type of spaces not found in traditional department stores. Not a few of these have long lines of people waiting for service every day, as well as making their first appearance in Kansai. Sweets from renowned shops of various places, let alone Osaka natives, are clad in spring attire just for you to enjoy.
Patisserie Mon cher from Dojima, Osaka, has pepped up its Dojima Roll for spring! Their “Cinderella Roll（1）” (331 yen per slice including tax) is filled with three types of fruit; strawberries, bananas and kiwis. The combination of sweet and tart fruit, and whipped cream creates a harmony sure to brighten up your heart.
Additionally, Mikage Takasugi from Kobe is only available here in Osaka. Their “Strawberry Shortcake（2）” cube (578 yen per piece including tax) uses two kinds of strawberries for filling and topping, with a superb balance of whipped cream and strawberry sauce. This is for those interested in a special shortcake which is a cut above the rest!

Kobe Fugetsudo in Namba CITY has just finished refurbishing and reopened on March 1, offering popular sweets in Minami area. Their signature gaufres, famed all over Japan, are tinted in cherry. Also “Palet au Chocolat Sakura (525 yen for a package of 8 including tax)（1）”, cherry-flavored Langue de Chat filled with white chocolate, “Mixed Cookies Sakura (525 yen per box)（2）”, cookies of cherry flowers and leaves, and Kobe Bouchee（3） comes in cherry as well, only available in this season.
You can also taste their original cake in the shop built in the image of a western lounge. “Tarte aux fraises (420 yen per piece including tax)（4）” is a pistachio tart with the sweetness of strawberries, and “Crêpes aux fraises (400 yen per piece including tax)（5）” is full of strawberries. “Lune (126 yen per piece with tax)（6）” made its debut along with the refurbishing. All of these charming sweets can win the hearts of people regardless of generation.
