Autumn is another colorful time of year, when the tall noble gingko trees that line Mido-Suji Avenue, Osaka's main thoroughfare, turn bright yellow, and maple trees in Osaka Castle Park take on vivid shades of orange and red. This is when the famous Mido-Suji Parade takes place, a vibrant procession of floats and marching bands down the great boulevard. Osaka's seaside location provides spectacular views of the setting sun. Among them a climb to the top of the WTC building in Cosmo Square, Western Japan's tallest building, offers a view of the sun setting behind the Akashi Straits Bridge in the distance.
Other autumn events are moon viewing ceremonies for the Harvest Moon, the Osaka spring and summer collection fashion shows, and exotic chrysanthemum shows in Osaka Castle Park and Tennoji Park.
