Outline Situated next to Nanko’s Cosmo Square, the Osaka Maritime Museum is housed in a building that with its dramatic glass dome is the most noticeable structure in the Bay Area. Consisting of four floors, and featuring at its center a fully reconstructed 17th century merchant ship (called Higakikaisen), the museum displays a rich collection of exhibits documenting the history of the prosperity of Osaka, which was a result of sea-faring activities. The museum also includes high-tech theaters and a sophisticated Yacht Simulator, the first of its kind in the world. With it, visitors can try their hand at virtual sailing.
