| Outline | To the north of OCAT you will see the eye-catching octagonal-shaped building Minato-Machi River Place. It’s especially dramatic at night, when the building is beautifully lit up. The three-dimensional public square outside, which is designed to hold all manner of outdoor events such as flea markets and concerts by street musicians, features a sweeping flight of stairs leading from the square down to the riverside promenade, which has already become a popular place for courting couples. Inside the building is the Namba Hatch, a concert hall for launching up-and-coming bands. Occupying the 3rd through the 6th floors of the building, Namba Hatch holds about 1,500 people (standing), and is the largest hall of its kind in Japan. |
